Paula Rodríguez Abruñeiras is a Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics in the Department of English and German Studies at the University of València. She has previously worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA) and at the University of Vigo (Spain), and has carried out research at the universities of Helsinki (Finland), Manchester (United Kingdom), Freiburg (Germany), Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA) and at the British Library (London, United Kingdom) on an ESSE bursary. She holds a European Doctorate in Historical Linguistics from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She is currently a member of SILVA (Group of Support for Investigation in Language Variation Analysis, University of València), IULMA (Interuniversity Institute of Applied Modern Languages, University of València) and an affiliated member of LVTC (Language Variation and Textual Categorization, University of Vigo) and of ViEW (Variation in English Worldwide). Her research interests include Corpus Linguistics, Linguistic Variation, Historical Linguistics, Contrastive Linguistics, Exemplification, New Englishes and Critical Discourse Analysis.
